Role synopsis

BP Azerbaijan Georgia Turkey Region (AGTR) invites experienced professionals to apply to Shah Deniz Area Operations Health and Safety (H&S) Advisor position. As Shah Deniz Area Operations Health & Safety Advisor, you will be the focal point for providing advice on all health and safety aspects of the Shah Deniz Area Operations activities to ensure safe, complaint and environmentally acceptable operations in Health Safety and Environmental (HSE) performance.

This is onshore based role reporting directly to the Shah Deniz Area Operations Health & Safety Team Leader and is part of the Regional S&OR Health & Safety Directorate for AGT Operations & Wells.

Key accountabilities

• Coach and support the Shah Deniz Area Operations Site H&S leads to ensure that personnel on board/site understand and comply with regulatory requirements, BP HSE Policies, Standards, Practices and Guidelines, in particular Safe System Of Work (SSOW) procedures.
• Coach and support the Shah Deniz Area Operations Site H&S Leads to ensure systematic approaches to identifying and addressing HSE risks associated with Shah Deniz Area Operations / Sites is completed
• Lead implementation of an annual H&S assurance programme for the Shah Deniz Asset Operator
• Lead periodic H&S inspections and assurance on sites to verify that a safe and compliant working environment is being maintained, people are appropriately trained and competent in the work they conduct, and that current work practices are in line with the approved procedures.
• Support Incident Investigations as required to determine Immediate and Systems Causes and develop Corrective Actions and coordinate responses with line leadership.
• Collate, analyse and report the Shah Deniz Area Operations HSE data.
• Support HSE training needs identification for personnel on sites.
• Act as a change agent: Able to actively and proactively respond to changing expectations of the business, take ownership for change by encouraging others and working collaboratively to create/improve common work systems and processes

Essential Education

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in engineering or science

Essential experience and job requirements

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in H&S.

Desirable criteria & qualifications

• Experience working with contractors;
• A competent personal and process safety professional, who has “skilful” competence in health, and “basic” competence in security and environment, and is skilled in the identification, assessment and monitoring of HSSE hazards and layers of protection to prevent incidents.
• NEBOSH Certificate / equivalent qualification;
• A good understanding of emergency response practices;
• Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills;
• Strong coaching abilities; Results orientated.
