East West Management Institute implements the USAID’s Socio-Economic Development Activity (SEDA) Project in Azerbaijan. SEDA is a USAID-funded program, co-financed by the Government of Azerbaijan, designed to increase citizen participation in governance to address regional socio-economic development needs. The SEDA Project is looking to hire an Azerbaijani citizen to serve as a Regional Director in the Ganja office.

 

Responsibilities and Tasks

The Regional Director will be responsible for the successful implementation of SEDA activities in Ganja-Qazakh region. The Regional Director will use his/her technical skills, education, experience, and country knowledge to accomplish the following tasks: :

 

Be responsible for the effective and timely implementation of SEDA program in the Ganja-Qazakh  region; 

Ensure that activities under the three SEDA’s components are effectively coordinated and implemented according to SEDA’s work plans;

Supervise the work of SEDA’s implementing partners and grantees at the local level;

Ensure SEDA’s cooperation with appropriate government authorities, civil society organizations, and private sector stakeholders at the local level;

Manage SEDA’s office staff in Ganja  and provide technical support as necessary;

Ensure that the operations of SEDA’s office in Ganja  run smoothly;

Identify on time issues that might hinder program implementation and propose solutions to address these issues.

Period of Performance

Full-time, long-term position based in Ganja. The project is expected to be funded  through September 2016.

 

Qualifications

 

Five or more years professional work experience  in social work or development programs for international organizations;

At least three years of experience in managing projects including planning, reporting, and supervising staff;

Good knowledge of the target region;

Good understanding of programs that work on regional socio-economic development;

Good understanding of civil society and community development initiatives in Azerbaijan;

Strong management skills, a self starter, and very well organized;

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;

University degree in political science, economics, social science, or other related fields.

Fluent in written and oral Azerbaijani and English languages;

Advanced computer skills.
