Role synopsis
BP Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey Region (AGTR) invites qualified professionals to apply to Control & Automation Engineer position The Reliability and Maintenance (R&M) Department is part of the Operations function and supports 6 large off-shore platforms to minimise production loss and safety risk while improving equipment reliability and availability.
The Department is divided into four delivery teams:
• Automation and Instrument-Control-Electrical (ICE)
• Rotating Machinery
• Reliability
• Maintenance Strategy Execution (MSE)
The C&A Engineer reports to the C&A Team Leader and is accountable for supporting the healthcare of the Integrated Control and Safety Systems (ICSS) installed across AGT off-shore, and for providing discipline engineering expertise, driving standardization, continuous improvement and ensuring compliance with company, industry and regulatory standards.
Key accountabilities:
• Develop more junior Control & Automation Engineers in the team, supervising the quality of their work, and assisting their development plans.
• Custodian and Region owner of common C&A engineering R&M processes and workflows e.g. ICSS preventative maintenance etc.
• Input to C&A work packs from an R&M perspective
• Drive C&A R&M standardization at regional level
• Custodian of Region wide health performance monitoring systems e.g. control loop monitoring
• Analyse C&A KPI data and drive associated continuous improvements relating to reliability e.g. control loop performance
• Provision of Region wide automation system healthcare and spares management contracts
• Focal point for MAC healthcare and spare management engagement and resource planning (and other third parties providing R&M services)
• Monitor C&A equipment failure rate data. Implement solutions to improve reliability e.g. of control and safety systems
• Accountable for process control digital security
• Accountable for ICSS obsolescence strategy
• Custodian of new Surveillance, Condition Monitoring, and Instrumentation technology (GE Bently Nevada, SmartSignal, Rolls Royce UHM, Solar Insight, Windrock etc. etc). Deploy and embed into site practice.
• Support the AGT region Safety System life cycle strategy.
• Provide I/C discipline support to address issues at an early stage involving other discipline engineers and technical authorities as required. Support incident and root cause failure analysis investigations.
• Participate in HAZOPs, LOPAs, design reviews and risk assessments.
• Actively participate in Management of Change (MOC) and Engineering Query (EQ) processes. Provide input to I&C related plant modifications and software changes to ensure they are designed and installed in compliance with company technical practices and follow the Guidance on Certification (GOC) process.
• Participate in discipline related BP and external networks.
Essential Education:
• University degree in Engineering discipline
Essential experience and job requirements:
• Minimum 6 years of Control & Automation Engineering experience in the Oil and Gas industry.
• Azerbaijani citizenship is required
Other Requirements (eg Travel, Location):
• Highly motivated, self-driven individual with an analytical approach to problem solving
• Demonstrate patience and coaching skills by contributing to the development of other engineers.
• Grasps the concepts of accountability and responsibility by taking ownership of issues within their control
• Interpersonal and communicative skills with ability to liaise and operate with vendors, engineers and technicians in a multi-cultural environment

Charted Engineer, ABB/Emerson ICSS experience
