Purpose: 

The role is in the changing environment and structure of the Azerbaijan Baku office. The role is required to ensure consistency and standardisation of project reporting in the CIS Region. 

There will be high emphasis on the Project Accountant to work both within the overall CIS Finance Team and also directly with the Azerbaijan Country Manager, Project Directors, Operations Director and Project Managers and Regional Business Director.

 

Reports to: 

- Finance Director – CIS Region

 

Role: 

- Ensure compliance with AECOM (and more stringent regional) policies and procedures 

- Tier 1 reviews 

- C – reviews 

- SOX compliance 

- Provide assistance and support to project administrators/project finance in the region 

- Project Set Up 

- Receive project details from project manager 

- Check documents/contracts are all in order and signed 

- Review Estimate to Complete (ECAC) 

- Client – new / existing 

- Staffing – current / new employees 

- Rates 

- Subcontractors – new / existing 

- Other direct costs 

- Project Update and Review 

- Update ECAC schedules in line with local policy and issue to PMs 

- Support and work with PMs on required ECAC changes 

- Seek approval for changes other required parties, as per local policy 

- Amend the revenue and cost estimates in Project Job Costing (PJC) module 

- Close Projects and Review 

- Complete final ECAC for review of final actual costs 

- Issue to PMs for final project review 

- Seek approval for changes other required parties, as per local policy 

- Amend the revenue and cost estimates in Project Job Costing (PJC) module and close to cost/billing or fully complete

 

Tax Legislation: 

- Good knowledge of tax legislation 

- Calculation of taxes in accordance with tax legislation and other normative acts of the Republic of Azerbaijan 

- Preparation of VAT returns, WHT tax returns and Profit Tax Returns in accordance with tax legislation 

- Liasion with Tax Department regarding any queries raised by tax authorities

 

Social Tax Legislation: 

- Comply with social tax legislation 

- Supervise over returns to State Social Fund of the Azerbaijan Republic 

- Calculation of sick leaves, maternity leave and other types of social benefits in accordance with social legislation

 

Accounting Software: 

- Good knowledge of 1C accounting software; recording of all daily transactions and statutory reporting in 1C accounting software 

- Closing 1C on monthly basis in accordance with local legislation 

- Other tasks which may arise with regard to statutory accounting 

- Provide overall regional performance reports periodically to relevant parties 

- Liaise with operations, country and/or business line and arrange periodic project review meetings 

- Support operations in project budgeting and bidding 

- Assist the regional operations in driving operational effeciencies in projects to minimise margin erosion 

- Facilitate cost and revenue management for live projects with project leads 

- Ensure project standards and processes are automated across the whole region 

- Any other ad-hoc duties, as required

- Part qualified / finalist, preferably CIMA management accountant 

- Ability to liaise with all levels of management and staff 

- Understand both finance and operations and provide support and solutions to both
