Located offshore Caspian Sea in Azerbaijan, the Shah Deniz gas condensate field is BP’s largest gas discovery with 30 TCF of gas in place and the production of 9 bcma from the existing Stage 1 operations. Shah Deniz Stage 2 entered the Execute Stage on 17th December 2013 with First Gas deliveries in Turkey expected at the end of 2018. At full plateau rate, Shah Deniz Stage 2 will add a further 16 billion cubic meters per annum (bcma) of gas production to the 9 bcma currently produced by Shah Deniz Stage 1. This will open up a significant new source of energy supply to Turkey, Eastern Europe and the European Union.

The Shah Deniz Gas Value Chain (GVC) is a large and complex series of major upstream and midstream projects – Shah Deniz Stage 2, South Caucasus Pipeline Expansion (SCPx), Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) and Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP). Together, these form the Southern Gas Corridor to Europe. Overall capital investment across the four major projects will be around $45 billion USD. The facilities will span six countries (Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Albania, Greece and Italy), up to 3500km of new pipelines and gas transmission infrastructure to Bulgaria and Southeast Europe.

Development of Shah Deniz Gas Value Chain is a crucial step in opening up the Southern Corridor and establishing Azerbaijan as a major provider of gas and energy security to Europe.

Role synopsis

Shah Deniz Gas Value Chain (GVC) consists of the Shah Deniz Stage 2 upstream development, South Caucasus Pipeline expansion (SCPx), Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) and Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP). These projects are collectively known as the Southern Corridor. The role is responsible for developing and maintaining the integrated plans and schedules for the entire Southern Corridor with the specific focus on the integration and alignment of the political, commercial and marketing activities with the technical project execution plans and delivery schedules.

Key accountabilities

• Establish key decisions and promote logic development to bring focus and help identify the activity set to support the integrated activity planning during ‘Execute’ stage

• Develop the fully Integrated schedule for the entire Shah Deniz 2 / Southern Corridor Gas Value Chain (GVC) including commercial scope (transit agreements, interoperability agreements, commercial frameworks, government approvals).

• Work closely with Shah Deniz Project planning and project services to establish and feed the summary activity set for the non-technical Shah Deniz GVC scope within the Shah Deniz 2 project schedule.

• Provide monthly updates to the integrated Shah Deniz GVC schedule for discussion at the Leadership Meeting. This involves capturing inputs and feedback from the functional teams and sharing the outputs with the Leadership Team including identifying and communicating any variances to the baseline on a monthly basis via an integrated schedule meeting.

• Carry out any special projects and probabilistic schedule analysis/ evaluation at the discretion of the Shah Deniz GVC Performance Manager and Vice President, Southern Corridor.

• Setup and maintain performance management dashboards for the key measures during Execute.

Essential Education

• University Degree or Chartered Status of a recognised professional body

Essential experience and job requirements

• 5+ years of planning and scheduling experience gained on large scale energy projects or operations

Desirable criteria & qualifications

• IT-literate including experience of using standard productivity software (e.g. MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel and MS Powerpoint)

• Competent user of Primavera version 6 (P6) and Microsoft Project planning software Ability to produce good quality written reports and summary presentations

• Ability to work under own initiative, proactive and resourceful

• Advanced influencing and communication skills in English language
