The largest community in BP's Upstream Segment, around 6000 people work in operations, essentially delivering oil and gas from the wellhead to the market. Operations staff play a significant role at all stages of the exploration and production cycle - providing input to a project from early appraisal all the way through to full production.

Role synopsis BP

Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey Region (AGTR) invites qualified professionals to apply to Senior Civil Engineer role. The Midstream Discipline Engineering Team (DET) is part of the Engineering Services function and is responsible for providing engineering support to the Sangachal oil and gas processing terminal and the three export pipelines (the 1760km Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline (BTC), the 976km Southern Caucasus gas pipeline (SCP) and the 846km Western Route Export Pipeline (WREP). In this role you will be responsible for providing civil and structural engineering expertise in the inspection and assessment of the integrity of civil structures and pipelines and for the development and approval of remediation and repair works for these assets.

Key accountabilities

- Act as a primary contact for all civil and structural engineering issues

- Provide technical guidance on the application of codes and standards with respect to civil and structural engineering

- Provide technical support for the inspection, assessment, remediation and rectification of all civil structures and civil pipeline works in particular the settlement of civil structures and pipeline river crossings

- Initiate and organise design measures to protect, prevent or restrict the threat of civil structural subsidence and pipeline river crossing erosion and provide civil engineering support in any change to existing facilities

- Plan and arrange regular inspections and surveys of pipeline river crossings to assess bank erosion and bed degradation

- Plan and arrange for civil structural settlement surveys to be carried out at all facilities including the Sangachal terminal, pipeline pump stations and other pipeline facilities

- Liaise with the incumbent civil engineering inspection contractor to ensure inspections are completed in accordance with the schedule

- Identify issues reported by the inspection contractor and develop the rectification works. Review and optimise civil structural inspections and maintenance routines

- Provide civil engineering support to develop scope of works and project specifications for tendering civil related projects and participate in tender technical evaluation reviews

- Complete site visits to check the quality and progress of on-going civil works and prepare and discuss regular reports on the progress and any related issues

- Work within the region to promote the consistent application of engineering standards and the development and distribution of shared learnings throughout the wider organization

- Review and update BP Civil/Structural Standards and preparation of Site Technical Practices, Inspection Plans

- Provide civil engineering technical expertise in the resolution of Engineering Queries (EQs) to increase safety and maximise pipeline availability and the integrity of civil structures

- Proactive participation in the delivery of proper HSE behavior in everyday activities and delivery of HSE inputs as required

- Participate in accident or failure investigations as requested, and close out using root cause failure analysis and other appropriate techniques

Essential Education

- Bachelors degree or higher in Civil or Structural Engineering.

- Professional Engineer (PE) / Chartered Engineer status /certification or ability to obtain within one year of hire.

Essential experience and job requirements

- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering

- Chartered Civil Engineer or working towards professional status

- Minimum of 10 years’ experience

- Excellent civil engineering integrity, process safety and HSSE awareness

- Working knowledge of western civil engineering codes and specifications and a working knowledge of erosion processes, specifically on rivers and methods used to arrest them

- Proven history in the remediation of structural subsidence and pipeline river crossings

- The ability to work in multi-discipline and multi-cultural teams

- Excellent interpersonal, influencing and communications skills

- Strong health, safety and environmental focus and commitment

- Ability to handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision

- Self motivated and able to work both independently and as a good team player.

- Azerbaijani citizenship is required.

- Strong background in brown-field engineering and issues.
- Familiarity with module design issues, including transportation alternatives.
