BP's Upstream segment focuses on finding reserves of oil and gas, developing the means to extract and process it and then consistently producing and transporting it to market. This involves using cutting edge technology to find the energy reserves, the ability to drill thousands of meters under the ground, designing, building and operating some of the world's largest most complex production onshore / offshore facilities and finally being able to transport these fluids, in order to provide energy to the world.

BP is the largest operator (excluding National Oil Companies) in the world with over 6.6MM BOE/Day gross operated production and operations in 25 countries on six continents. The largest community in BP's Upstream Segment, around 6000 people work in operations, essentially delivering oil and gas from the wellhead to the market. Operations staff play a significant role at all stages of the exploration and production cycle - providing input to a project from early appraisal all the way through to full production. 

Role synopsis

The AGT Region is seeking an experienced candidate with a firm operations or maintenance background capable of strong performance in the critical role of Operations Specialist within the Shah Deniz Area Engineering Support Team. The role is responsible for providing the offshore Operations Teams with onshore facilities engineering support and progressing short/mid-term Engineering work-scopes required to deliver the Shah Deniz Area Annual Operating Plan and maintain safe, efficient operations for the Shah Deniz Alpha facilities.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a results-driven candidate to showcase and develop their operations and leadership skills in an operations support work environment. The Operations Specialist is a member of the Shah Deniz Area Engineering Team and reports to the Shah Deniz Area Engineering TL.

Azerbaijan citizenship is required.

Key accountabilities

As Operations Specialist, your main accounatabilities will be:

- Be accountable to deliver solutions to prioritized engineering queries and operations support requests. 
- Execute approved emergent work in Short Term Plans. 
- Provide immediate engineering support for facility breakdown maintenance. 
- Coordinate Management of Change (MoCs) to ensure facilities and equipment are operated within the design envelopes; suggest and lead efforts to change system design as necessary. 
- Ensure all relevant documentation for the asset is kept up to date and any technical changes are managed appropriately via the AGT engineering processes to manage change. 
- Work closely with vendors and contractors which are utilized to support on-going operations and maintenance activities. 
- Ensure that all anomalies are subject to engineering evaluation / failure analysis / fitness for purpose assessment with identification of remedial and recommended follow up actions. 
- Provide mentoring and coaching assistance to develop less experienced engineers within the Shah Deniz Area Engineering Support Team (SD AEST)

Execution ownership of Integrated Area Short Term (6 and 12 week) Plans. 
- Be accountable for area engineering support activities in the Area Short Term Plans. 
- Be accountable to identify and mitigate risks to delivery of the Area Short Term Plans. 
- Agree plan stage-gate readiness of assigned engineering activities, prepared and reviews area activity execution workpacks.

Drive Production Improvement 
- Monitor daily production and identify opportunities for improvement (to grow installed production capacity). 
- Deliver defect elimination and continuous improvement within discipline. 
- Use Production Efficiency Improvement tools to mitigate unplanned losses. 
- Act as a Member of Investigation team for all unplanned production losses 
- Act directly on Breakdown Production losses. 
- Ensure Opportunity for Improvement (Corrective Losses) is owned by relevant function.

Act as Single Point of Accountability for Engineering support to Small Projects arising in an operating facility. 
- Serve as the primary interface between the offshore Operations Team and key vendors and engineering service providers onshore 
- Establishe and maintain a strong network with onshore Functional Support Teams 
- Engineer, plan and coordinate shutdown activities and on occasion Turnarounds (TAR) events. 
- Stand-in for the AESTL in his absence. 
Essential Education - A minimum of vocational qualification in engineering sciences. 
Essential experience and job requirements - 7-10 years' experience in facility/operations/projects execution in an operating facility. 
- Deep understanding of engineering practices. 
- Proven track record of working and interaction with wide range of Stakeholders. 
- Proven track record of operations planning execution. 
- A proven track record of delivering results and overcoming obstacles. 
Other Requirements (eg Travel, Location) - Strong analytical skills. 
- Strong communication, influencing and interpersonal skills. 
- A proven ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. 

Desirable criteria & qualifications

- Experienced and knowledgeable in Gas and Oil operations with specific background within Shah Deniz Alpha operations preferable 
- Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Mechanical, Chemical or Petroleum Engineering preferred 
- Experience of working within a high performance team 
- Experience with operating facility maintenance practices 
- Knowledgeable in incident investigation processes 
- Working experience with Maintenance Management Systems would be advantageous. 
- Experience working with different cultures is advantageous.
