Job title: Upstream AGT Backbone Communications Lead 

 

Role synopsis

 

The Backbone Regional Communications Lead is a key lead position in the regional Change and Transformation team and will manage awareness and understanding of the Backbone identity, vision and journey on an ongoing basis across identified stakeholder groups. This is achieved by creating an environment that allows the deployment team to speak to the business community with one voice.

Communications will be deployed at the Global Programme level and the AGT Regional level and maintain clear links to the overall Upstream Backbone initiative. Change associated with new processes and applications need to be presented holistically and to ensure communications are harmonized. 

 

Key accountabilities

 

• Lead collaboration with the Regional Communications Manager in AGT CE&A (Communications & External Affairs) 

• Effectively Manage message delivery through all available regional communication channels (strategy, planning, message creation, management and delivery) 

• Responsible for shaping key messages for weekly, monthly and quarterly updates, along with all presentation materials required 

• Implement systems to track and work in partnership with stakeholder managers (BCL’s (Business Change Leads) / project leadership) to ensure all stakeholders are effectively managed (reporting) 

• Develop articles and stories to be used in relevant segment communication channels as per the communication plan 

• Lead and drive engagement with the AGT Business to ensure delivery of Backbone messages within regional communications 

• Lead engagement with global Backbone/GFT (Global Financial Template) teams to properly manage collaboration of information and communications. 

 

Essential Education

• BA Degree to support strong communications skills in either Education or Languages / Communications / Marketing 

 

Essential experience and job requirements

• >10 years experience in Oil and Gas industry and Communications and Stakeholder engagement and experience in managing communications to stakeholder groups 

 

Other essential skills and knowledge

• Ability to develop communications deliverables with completeness, quality, and compliance with established project standards 

• Ability to document and communicate the progress against plans, taking corrective action as necessary 

• Very high standards of written and oral communication skills 

• Ability to positively engage stakeholders and teams on a global and regional basis 

 

Desirable criteria & qualifications

 History of ability to generate new idea and new methods of communicating and engaging stakeholders in an effective manner with a holistic view. 

 Experience in gathering various pieces of information from different parties and condensing into a viable summary and story for distribution and presentation.

• Ability to manage and lead communications with Global Teams, Regional Teams and Functions and Delivery Teams in an accurate and professional manner. 

• Ability to develop, implement, and manage the project Enablement Communications Plan 

• Ability to identify, clarify, and resolve issues and risks related to project communications, escalating them as needed

• Time management to ensure communications are developed and implemented in line with communication plan timing 

• Ability to establish solid working relationships to help gain input as required into communications 

• Experience in meeting tight deadlines 

• Ability to openly face difficult situations and turn into a positive outcome 

• Experience in effective communications related to new projects across multiple areas and functions 

• Ability to relate and have respect to people from varied backgrounds 

• Ability to listen to others assimilate their opinions and views
