Background  
 
Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Head of Office and overall supervision of the Head of Office, the incumbent performs the following duties:
 
Tasks and Responsibilities  
 
 Provides consecutive interpretation during press conferences hosted by Head of Office (HoO) and Deputy Head of Office (DHoO), bilateral meetings with high officials, formal meetings chaired by HoO / DHoO and attended by high ranking members of the Government, NGOs, political parties, academics and other public officials; as well as during interviews given by the HoO / DHoO to Azerbaijani media.
 Accompanies HoO / DHoO during official travel within the country; also accompanies high-ranking delegations, as required; helps with the organisation of visits of high-level delegations, in close coordination with the Personal Assistant to the Office of Head of Office.
 Provides accurate translation of all incoming and outgoing documents and printed materials for the HoO and DHoO.
 Prepares commentaries and amendments to translated materials; translates reports and/or minutes of meetings into Azerbaijani for distribution to domestic officials.
 Does proof-reading of documents; evaluates and validates written translations produced by other translators and/or mission members, including complex reports, correspondence and all other materials.
 Translates and certifies interviews of the HoO / DHoO to Azerbaijani media.
 Engages in day-to-day operations of Office of Head of Office, in close co-operation with the HoO, the DHoO, the National Press and public Information Officer and the Personal Assistant, including liaison with the Office’s departments, external parties, etc.
 Stands in for all the duties of the Personal Assistant during his/her absence.
 Performs other related duties as assigned.
 
Necessary Qualifications  
 
• University degree in languages;
• Full proficiency in English and Azerbaijani (knowledge of Russian and other OSCE languages and/;or Turkish would be considered as an advantage);
• Extensive experience in interpreting/translating;
• Thorough knowledge of regular office procedures;
• Very good communication skills, professional attitude and good manners are essential to deal with high officials, representatives of civil society and international agencies; tact is required in all dealings;
• Computer literate with practical experience of Windows applications and other software packages;
• Ability to work under pressure;
• Initiative and independent judgement required.
• Ability to work with people of different nationalities and cultural backgrounds
 
Remuneration Package  
 
Social benefits will include possibility of participation in the Vanbreda medical insurance scheme. Gross salary per month 1,154.92 EUR.
